PLANT FOR WATER DISSOLUTION BY ELECTROLYSIS Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2224051 C1

FIELD: electrochemistry. SUBSTANCE: invention deals with design of electrolyzers producing oxygen-hydrogen mixture: fire-damp, hydrogen and oxygen by electrolysis of water. Plant for water dissolution has electrolyzer including body put on shaft and linked to rotary drive. Body has conduits to feed electrolyte solution and to discharge products of electrolysis, conduit to discharge electrolyte solution, short- circuited electrodes, one being placed on shaft and another being formed by internal surface of body. Plant also includes heat exchanger, is fitted with upper and lower bearing units in which shaft is supported vertically, outer circuit for circulation of electrolyte solution that contains ring chamber of electrolyte solution with internal surface in the form of helix placed stationary on upper bearing unit, indicator of presence of electrolyte solution and mixer of electrolyte solution connected to lines feeding electrolyte and water and conduit feeding electrolyte solution. Body of electrolyzer is made of current conducting material, conduit to discharge electrolyte solution is made in upper cover and is provided with adjustable valve communicating with ring chamber of electrolyte solution, internal surface of body has at least one directing groove. Line feeding water is equipped with device controlling flow rate of water. Conduit to discharge products of electrolysis is fitted with device drawing away products of electrolysis. Heat exchanger is positioned in outer circuit for circulation of electrolyte solution and indicator of presence of electrolyte solution is connected to device controlling flow rate of water and rotation drive of shaft. Plant can be provided with separator installed in conduit drawing away products of electrolysis. Body of electrolyzer can have cylindrical shape, electrode positioned on shaft can come in the form of cone with slots parallel to shaft and cylinder with radial holes anchored on cone. One, preferably two, directing grooves are helical. Electromagnetic valve is utilized as device controlling flow rate of water, electric vacuum pump is employed in the capacity of device drawing away products of electrolysis. Apart from all mentioned plant can be provided with enclosure. EFFECT: simplified design of electrolyzer, increased efficiency of plant. 8 cl, 1 dwg
