FIELD: metal working by cutting, namely cutting internal threads of large diameters, mainly in large-size parts such as housings of turbines and pumps. SUBSTANCE: milling cutter includes body and set of non-reground cutting tips of hard alloy mounted in seats of body uniformly along its perimeter and fixed by means of fastening members. Said tips are made of blanks in the form of regular triangles whose working portions adjoined to apices are in the form of profile of cut thread along the whole thickness of tip. Seats have at least two walls being supports for mounting and fastening cutting tips. One of said supporting walls is parallel relative to radial plane of body and it is spaced by preset distance from said plane. One cutting tip is forced to supporting wall of each seat; part of second wall serves as support for lateral face of cutting tip and it is arranged opposite relative to loaded working portion. In order to simplify design and to decrease consumption of hard alloy, supporting wall of each seat for securing cutting tip that is parallel relative to radial plane of body is shifted relative to said plane in direction of rotation of milling cutter. Second supporting wall of each seat is normal relative to first supporting wall. Each supporting wall is secured to center of triangle forming it. Axes of fastening members of all cutting tips are arranged in the same plane normal relative to lengthwise axis of body. EFFECT: improved design. 6 cl, 3 dwg
