FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the design of metal-cutting tools for milling parts. A prefabricated hob cutter consists of individual discs, the shape of which consists of a helical surface that has a specific helix angle ω, depending on the module of the gear being cut, as well as on the number of replaceable carbide plates located on this helical surface. Each individual disk has radial and tangential grooves in which radially and tangentially located carbide cutting plates are installed, the plates are mounted on a helical surface, which is formed by an Archimedean worm, with side surfaces of an asymmetrical profile and a variable initial contour of the producing rack with angles α1 and α2.
EFFECT: improved performance of the assembled hob cutter.
