FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves explaining deep breathing harm and respiration biomechanics to a patient. Carbon dioxide content in lungs is determined under conditions of breathing retention causing mild air shortage. The patient is advised to relax respiratory muscles by applying conscious volitional effort. First, face muscles, shoulder girdle muscles, superior thoracic muscles and diaphragm are relaxed. Then, the patient is suggested to concentrate attention on solar plexus area to reach warmth and heaviness feeling. Each training procedure is carried out within 20-30 min. Breathing retention pause growth is observed after each training procedure to become 4-6-s longer. EFFECT: conscious participation in respiration depth reduction process.
