DEVICE FOR EXPOSING LIQUID TO ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2225237 C2

FIELD: medical engineering. SUBSTANCE: device has peristaltic pump with controllable discharge rate, connective hoses, radiator unit having cell manufactured as two coaxial cylinders mounted with space left for letting blood flow, cylindrical ultraviolet radiation source mounted coaxially with its cylinders inside of the cell. The cylinders are manufactured from quartz glass. Space between cell cylinders is closed with ring-shaped corks at the top and bottom. The corks have openings for connecting pipes giving way for letting blood flow in and out. The upper ring-shaped cork is of irregular shape having ring-shaped groove on its external side adjacent to external cell cylinder. The groove is connected to inlet connecting pipe. Vertical notches are manufactured below the groove for blood to flow allover the upper ring-shaped cork perimeter. The ultraviolet radiation source has cylindrical screen allowing longitudinal movement. The connecting pipes are provided with connecting hoses. Temperature control transducer connected to conditioning unit for adjusting temperature within the radiator unit is fixed in the space between the ultraviolet radiation source and internal surface of inner cylinder. The conditioning unit is coupled with switch to supply ionized oxygen into the space. Electron-optical transducer for controlling contamination degree is mounted on the external surface of the outer cylinder. Level gage is mounted on the upper part of the radiator unit. Electric current source and the transducer are connected to the switch to enable them to operate in autonomous mode. EFFECT: improved process quality. 2 dwg
