FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy; autogenous smelting of copper concentrates. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes processing of concentrate in combined articulated unit. Copper concentrate is subjected to oxidizing roasting in vortex chamber at temperature of 750-850 C at flow rate of oxygen of 130-160 kg/t of copper concentrate. Cinder thus obtained is fed continuously together with fluxes and copper floatation concentrate into melting unit articulated with vortex chamber. Total flow rate of oxygen during roasting and melting ranges from 240 to 380 kg/t of copper concentrate. As a result, matte converter slag and gases containing sulfur dioxide are obtained. Shortage of heat in the process is made up by removal of low-temperature and high-temperature gases, preheating of concentrate in roasting chamber , preheating of air and burden, enrichment of blast and use of natural gas. EFFECT: reduced consumption of fuel and commercial oxygen. 5 cl, 1 tbl
