FIELD: methods of production of polysulfides, polysulfide cooking liquor in particular by electrolytic oxidation. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes introduction of solution containing sulfide ions into anode section of electrolytic cell. Anode section of electrolytic cell is provided with porous anode and cathode section is provided with cathode; anode and cathode sections are separated by diaphragm. Porous anode is so positioned that space between porous anode and diaphragm is 60 to 99% of volume of anode section. EFFECT: high concentration of polysulfide ions in cooking liquor at minimum formation of thiosulfate ions. 9 cl, 3 tbl
