FIELD: inorganic chemistry, chemical and ceramic industry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in preparing high-temperature lubricants, covering agents, separating media, ceramics, plastics and composites. Metallic sodium is charged in crucible, placed into furnace, heated in nitrogen atmosphere up to 600 C and boron trichloride is fed slowly. The ratio of boron trichloride to sodium = 1:(0.40-0.66). Then metallothermic reduction of boron trichloride is carried out at 800-850 C and after termination of the process vacuum separation is carried out. The prepared sodium-containing condensate is used in the reduction process. The content of boron nitride in reduction product is 99.4%, not less, and amount of impurities is diminished. Invention provides preparing pure boron nitride with high output. Method shows simplicity and economy. EFFECT: improved preparing method. 1 tbl, 1 ex
