FIELD: obtaining heat-resistant metals.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related in particular to neutralizing fumes, which are formed during the magnesium thermal production of spongy titanium. The method includes the passivation of sublimates with dried compressed air and atmospheric air, then the sublimes are placed in the apparatus and the combustion process is carried out, then the apparatus is dismantled, the neutralization products are washed out with water in air. Initially, during the combustion process, the apparatus is dried for at least 1 hour at 150-200°C and a residual pressure of 78.5 kPa. Then the apparatus is heated up to 600°C and exposed at this temperature for 11 hours in an atmosphere of dry compressed air at an overpressure of 29.4 kPa. During exposure the apparatus is evacuated to a residual pressure of 78.5 kPa every 2 hours.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to convert highly active pyrophoric fumes into neutralization products that are passive to the action of the working zone air and water washout.
