FIELD: organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: dihydroxybenzenes are produced via catalytic oxidation of phenol by nitrogen monoxide in presence of benzene, catalysts being zeolites ZSM-5 and ZSM-11 with alumina, silica, or their mixture as binding agent. Catalyst is preliminarily activated by steam at 500-1000 C. Process is conducted in flow reactor at 250 to 600 C and contact time between 0.1 and 10 sec.
