FIELD: ecological engineering and forestry. SUBSTANCE: method involves forming at least one slot in peripheral part of growing plant in site to be tested along axis of this part to layer to be sonicated from bark surface including first year's layers of growing plant sapwood in site under test. Method allows ecological monitoring of territory to be effectuated by means of growing tree properties, as well as quality certification of individual trees and plantations to be provided on the basis of accounted trees in the course of, for example, forest regulation, allocation of forest areas for landscaping of territory and proving forest cleaning cuttings. EFFECT: wider operational capabilities of ultrasonic testing of construction bearing capacity, increased measurement precision at different moisture content of bark, cambium and first year's layer of growing tree sapwood. 8 cl, 14 dwg
