METHOD OF MANUFACTURE OF THE HOLLOW PLASTIC OPHTHALMIC PROSTHESES Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: ophthalmic prosthetics; manufacture of the ophthalmic prostheses out of organic plastic materials. SUBSTANCE: the invention presents a method of manufacture of the ophthalmic prosthetics, in particular, to manufacturing of ophthalmic prostheses made out of organic plastic materials. The method provides for manufacturing of two halves of an individual ophthalmic prosthesis with the congruent docking surfaces, providing tightness of the joint of the two halves after removal of the plastic materials from their inside cavities. For this purpose they use a press mould made of two parts, in which there are plaster casts of the front and rear surfaces of the reference ophthalmic prosthesis. A blank of the iris-pupil of the eye is laid in the lower part of the press mould, then the paste-type mass of prepolymer is laid, then a spacer in the form of a dense cellophane sheet is laid over. Then the mass of prepolymer is placed on the cellophane sheet and covered with the upper part of the press mould. After hot polymerization the produced halves of the ophthalmic prosthesis are disconnected and then they are stuck together for the surfaces finishing up to the necessary form and degree of purity. Along the seam of the ophthalmic prosthesis they undercut a ring-shaped groove. After removal of the plastic materials from the inside cavities the halves are joined, a groove is filled in with a mass of prepolymer with the following hot polymerization in the initial press mould and realize the definitive finishing of the ready hollow prosthesis. The given method allows to increase technological effectiveness of manufacturing of the hollow ophthalmic prostheses made out of the plastic materials and to improve their operational characteristics.
