FIELD: nondestructive inspection. SUBSTANCE: proposed thermoelectric method can be employed in metallurgical industry and mechanical engineering to control various properties of metallic materials correlating with their absolute differential thermo-emf. Method lies in setting contact between material and electrodes made of material with same thermal conductivity and different absolute differential thermo-emf and in measurement of thermo-emf in pair of heated electrodes, in pair of one heated and one cold electrodes and in pair of cold electrodes. Measured thermo-emf emerging between abovementioned pairs of electrodes and absolute differential thermo-emf of heated and cold electrodes are used to compute absolute differential thermo-emf of tested material.
