FIELD: shipbuilding; hovercraft breaking ice cover. SUBSTANCE: proposed method is performed by amphibian hovercraft and consists in excitation of resonance flexural gravitational waves in ice cover when ship is running at resonance speed. Ship makes repeated passes over field of ice to be broken. Number of lanes is limited by number which does not cause increase of pressure in ship air cushion. Repeated passes are performed at critical speed. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of breaking ice cover. 2 cl, 1 dwg
