FIELD: chemical power sources. SUBSTANCE: invention provides novel condenser materials, methods of preparation thereof, and condensers employing these materials. Method envisages at least partial reduction of valve metal oxides in presence of gas-absorbing materials under atmosphere allowing transfer of oxygen atoms from initial valve metal oxide to gas-absorbing material during a period of time and at temperature appropriate to form low-oxygen valve metal oxide. Resulting metal oxides and/or metal suboxides have metal-to-oxygen atomic ratio more than 1:2.5, specific surface 0.5 to 10 m2/g, and apparent density below 2.0 g/cm3.
