SUBSTANCE: invention relates to niobium oxide and capacitors based on thereof. Niobium oxide shows atomic ratio of niobium to oxygen = 1 : less 1.5 and specific surface value = 0.5-10.0 m2/g. Method for its preparing involves at least partial reducing niobium oxide comprising thermal treatment of niobium oxide in the presence of gas-absorbing material in atmosphere that provides transferring oxygen atoms from niobium oxide to a gas-absorbing material for time and at temperature sufficient for the formation of niobium oxide with reduced content of oxygen. Compounds of niobium, tantalum or their mixtures are used as a gas-absorbing material. Capacitor anodes are made of the prepared niobium oxides and suboxides. Anodes show high capacity and low leakage by the direct current.
EFFECT: improved reducing and preparing method.
