FIELD: rubber industry. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to technology of mechanical rubber articles, in particular to surface and bulk modification of vulcanizate. Method comprises adding modifying agents to rubber compound and final treatment of end product with fluorine-containing substance, namely fluorine/inert gas mixture or fluorine/oxygen/inert gas mixture. Modifying agents are selected from metal oxide powder, metal carbide powder, polytetrafluoroethylene/mineral oil dispersion, fluorinated ether, fluorinated alcohol-telomer, and paraffin, each in amount 0.2 to 40.0 wt parts. It is possible end that treatment of product to be performed at fluorine concentration 5 to 25 vol % in mixture with inert gas for 1-24 h at 15-60o. It is also possible that polytetrafluoroethylene/mineral oil dispersion is used in concentration 40-60 wt % with polytetrafluoroethylene particle size 0.5-1 mcm. EFFECT: reduced coefficient of "dry" friction on steel and ceramic coatings, and also reduced friction coefficient in initial period of shift of contacting surfaces, increased biological and chemical resistance of articles. 4 cl, 3 tbl, 10 ex
