METHOD ESTABLISHING STRENGTH PROPERTIES OF SOILS IN FIELD AND DEVICE FOR I TS IMPLEMENTATION Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: study of strength properties of solid materials, soils, in particular, design of cultivation machines. SUBSTANCE: specimen of soil is formed in the field in undisturbed layer of soil at various soil horizons. Specimen is transported on moving belt till it broke under action of its own weight. Value of angle of turnoff section of specimen and its sagging are measured. Flexural strength of specimen is computed. Device for implementation of method has base carrying vertical U-shaped pillar. Metal plate with sharpened part is mounted horizontally on U-shaped pillar for its setting on various soil levels. Separable hollow detachable form of various cross-sections is put on mentioned plate. Plate of clear material with applied scale grid is anchored on U-shaped pillar. EFFECT: increased measurement accuracy while testing specimen for bending, enhanced quality of design and computation of working tools of cultivation machinery adapted for various soil and climatic conditions. 5 cl, 2 dwg
