FIELD: investigation of internal structure of materials by ultrasonic waves methods.
SUBSTANCE: method involves emitting flexural wave pulses directed transverse to surface of product successively at two different frequencies fj and f; measuring amplitudes of received signals at said frequencies and determining ratio thereof, with frequency of 2f being selected as frequency fj; placing article into immersion liquid; additionally measuring amplitude of second bottom pulse at frequency f; determining average size of material grain by calculations depending on parameters of signals received and properties of material under control and immersion liquid.
EFFECT: increased efficiency by providing working out of control method without use of reference samples.
