FIELD: nuclear power.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an absorbing element (AE) intended for use in a nuclear reactor with a heavy liquid metal coolant. The AE comprises cylindrical, coaxially arranged outer shell and inner shell, upper shank and lower shank, a core made of neutron-absorbing material placed between said shells, an upper plug, a lower plug and a first separator placed between the outer shell and the core. Between the lower plug and the lower shank, a chamber is formed, filled with gas and comprising a bushing made of frozen coolant. The chamber in its lower part is in fluid communication with the volume in which the core is placed. The upper plug comprises openings that provide flow communication of the volume in which core 5 is placed with the external environment, and the specified volume is filled with a frozen coolant in the form of a blank from a frozen coolant.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to increase the uniformity of filling the AE with a coolant and the reliability of its operation under load.
