MOBILE STATION SUPPORTED TIME SYNCHRONIZATION IN CDMA COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

Abstract RU 2231224 C2

FIELD: communication systems.

SUBSTANCE: novelty is that slave base station attains synchronization with master base station through message transferred from mobile station and received by the latter during soft token passing between master base station and slave base station. Two-way delay in signal passage between mobile station and master base station is first measured. When base station locks signal from slave base station, it measures difference between time required for signal passage to it from master base station and time required for signal passage from it to slave station, and sends relevant message. For final procedure slave base station measures difference between moment when it receives backward-link signal from mobile station and moment when it transmits signal to mobile station. A number of calculations described in detain herein are made with measured time values to determine time difference for slave base station so as to make appropriate time synchronization of the latter.

EFFECT: provision for time synchronization when network can partially receive centralized timing signal and some base stations cannot do so.
