FIELD: medicine, neurosurgery.
SUBSTANCE: at tumors of size up to 4.0 cm and either cellular or precellular types of sphenoidal sinus structure one should perform minimum traumatic access. For this purpose through nasal pathway it is necessary to get right towards the anterior wall of sphenoidal sinus. Nasal septum, however, should be kept intact. Half of anterior sinus' wall should be trephinated. Then sella turnica should be trephinated. Tumor should be removed. Moreover, endoscopic control may be used at tumor removal. The method enables to decrease traumaticity of interference and possible postoperational complications as synechiae, perforations of nasal septum, nasal hemorrhages due to keeping anatomical integrity of nasal septum and its mucosa.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of operation.
