FIELD: metal treatment.
SUBSTANCE: : invention, in particular, relates to treating steel and solid-alloy tools for different applications. Treatment involves heating with jet of low-temperature argon plasma including, wt %: carbon 0.05-0.20, hydrogen 0.04-3.50, silicon 0.16-0.080, and nitrogen or oxygen 0.01-0.07. Jet is displaced across surface of an object with velocity 1 to 15 mm/s.
EFFECT: increased hardness and stability of objects due to directed change in physicochemical, mechanical, and working properties of surface and subsurface layers of objects.
