FIELD: power engineering.

SUBSTANCE: proposed self-contained electric set has control panel, generator, diesel engine, oil sump connected with diesel engine, fuel feed system, oil tank connected with oil sump as communicating vessels. Oil level in oil tank is limited by its upper wall being at distance L below upper oil level in oil sump where L is distance between upper level of oil, when engine is shut down, and upper level of oil, when engine is operating, and volume V of oil tank required to provided needed time of operation of self-contained electric set without attendance and observation is determined as V=RblPt-Vos where Rbl is oil burning losses, 1/kW-h; P is power output of self-contained electric set, kW; t is time of operation without attendance and observation, h; Vos is oil volume in oil sump between upper and lower oil levels, l. Upper wall of oil tank is made flat.

EFFECT: increased time of operation without attendance and observation.
