FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: the invention is dealt with the field of metallurgy, in particular, with the carbon composite materials erosion / oxidation resistant and capable of wetting with melted aluminum, used for shaping cathodes or for lining the cells of electrolyze reduction. The offered method of production of a carbon-bearing composite material at the start-up and operation of the electrolysis cells, providing for mixing of initial reagents with, at least, one carbon-bearing component. The carbon-bearing composite materials produced by the method also are offered. The technical result is production of erosion and an oxidation resistant carbon-bearing composite materials and if necessary, capable for wetting and having the lower cost as compared with the known boride-bearing materials, and also used in electrolysis cells and, in particular, in cells with a cathode drain.
EFFECT: the invention ensures production of erosion and an oxidation resistant carbon-bearing composite materials capable for wetting and cheap.
