FIELD: transport mechanical engineering; suspensions of transport facilities.

SUBSTANCE: proposed magneto-rheological shock absorber has body with hydraulic cavity filled with magneto-rheological fluid and divided into parts by piston, passage connecting these parts, rod with wires inside it, magnet consisting of winding and core for forming the magnetic field with force line directed along axis of passage. Magneto-rheological shock absorber is provided with control unit for change of current in winding depending of rate of motion of piston and furnishing electric signal to control unit which is proportional to rate of piston; shock absorber is also provided with double-acting pressure sensor fitted in piston and made in form of two piezo-electric plates and metal disk between them. Sensor generates electric signal proportional to rate of motion of piston which is transmitted to control unit varying current in magnet winding, thus ensuring change of forces of resistance of shock absorber by optimal characteristics.
