FIELD: petroleum chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: proposed catalyst has porosity of 0.1 to 0.30 cu cm/g; at least 70% of pores have size of 1 to 4 nm including zirconium oxide consisting of crystallites of pure tetragonal phase at size no less than 300 A. Surface of zirconium oxide have sulfate groups in the amount corresponding to complete coating of zirconium oxide surface by mono-layer of said sulfate groups. Catalyst is produced by method including hydrolysis of zirconium derivative in basic medium in presence of tetra-alkyl ammonium hydroxide, sulfuric acid and acetyl acetate (AcAc) followed by drying of product obtained at operation (a) and calcination of dried product at temperature of 250 to 650 C; treatment of product obtained at operation (b) may be effected by aqueous solution of noble metal compound followed by drying and calcination of product.
EFFECT: enhanced activity of catalyst.
