FIELD: production of building materials.

SUBSTANCE: method involves taking probe of clay material, forming sample, compressing sample by applying pressure within the range between minimum and maximum pressure values and determining shrinkage value, which characterizes clay material humidity. Device for humidity determination includes matrix, die unit, drive for die unit movement and sensing element for determining parameter to be measured connected to die unit. Matrix may be reciprocated in horizontal plane, which provides continuous taking probe of clay material without stopping flow thereof.

EFFECT: increased efficiency of humidity determining during continuous manufacturing process.
