FIELD: electrical engineering; wire connection in high-voltage lines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed insulator has insulating pin with inner cavity and part around outer surface of pin which is made of tracking-resistant material and provided with annular ribs. Mounted on upper and lower butt-ends of pin and ribbed part are upper and lower terminators, respectively. Butt-end surface of upper terminator is provided with slot to receive current conductor, and annular groove is made on its side surface to receive current-carrying fittings; lower terminator has central bore to receive spindle. Tightly fitted in inner space of pin is protective cylinder made of current-conducting material in the form of upside-down turned sleeve with central bore in bottom. Bottom edge of sleeve contacts lower terminator. Proposed insulator incorporates provision for protecting its inner surface against erosion and moisture.
EFFECT: enhanced service life and reliability of insulator due to enhanced mechanical strength and reduced leakage current.
