FIELD: ferrous metallurgy, in particular, desulfurization of cast iron beyond furnace with the use of powdered reactants.
SUBSTANCE: additional wire has metal sheathing and powdered magnesium-containing filler. Magnesium contained in wire composition is introduced in the form of magnesium-aluminum alloy containing 5-25 wt% of aluminum. Magnesium content is 10-35 wt%. Powdered wire filler may additionally include additive inert to magnesium-aluminum alloy (1.5-4.0):1. Fired dolomite, staurolite concentrate, fluorspar, silicon carbide or slag mixture with CaO content ≥ 30.0% and alkalinity (CaO/SiO2)≥ 2.0 may be used as inert additive.
EFFECT: wider range of usage of magnesium, provision for stable high desulfurization extent, reduced consumption of wire and improved ecology of process.
