FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and may be used for out-of-furnace treatment of metallurgical melts with powder wire. The powder wire consists of a metal shell and a filler from a mechanical mixture of magnesium powder and a passivation additive. A refractory material with a melting tempreture of at least 1580°C is used as a passivating additive, wherein the ratio between the magnesium and the refractory powder is (0.25-1.95):1 and the ratio between the components of the powder wire is set as follows, wt %: filler 32-65, metal shell 35-68. Magnesite, periclase, kyanite-sillimanite concentrate, silicon carbide, aluminum oxide, calcined dolomite, lime or melting a mixture containing CaO≥50.0 wt % is used as a heat resistance material with a melting temperature of at least 1580°C.
EFFECT: invention increases the degree of desulfurization and the efficiency of magnesium use, as well as reduces wire consumption.
