FIELD: plastic metal working, possibly bending of steel tubes.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus includes heater for heating elongated member having central axis; bending device having unit for applying tension effort at two points arranged in mutually opposite directions from heated zone. Apparatus also includes first unit for regulating tension effort; unit for moving elongated metallic member and heater one relative to other along central axis of metallic elongated member; second unit for regulating speed of said relative motion. Unit for applying tension effort includes chain arranged in parallel relative to central axis of metallic member with possibility of compression of bent portion and having two points arranged in opposite directions from heated zone of metallic elongated member for applying to them tension effort. With use of such apparatus method for bending elongated metallic member is realized.

EFFECT: enhanced quality of bending elongated metallic members due to slightly reduced thickness of its wall.
