FIELD: repairing operations, namely restoration of worn crankshafts.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of mechanically working journal at technological penetration into body of restored surface along its whole width between webs of journal and forming fillet; heat treatment of crankshaft; securing to worked journal cover strip compensating metal wear in the form slit ring or ring halves by welding their butts; positioning first welded joint in zone restricted by rotation angle of crankshaft equal to 25-50 degrees from its upper dead point; positioning second welded joint formed at using ring halves by rotation angle 180 degrees relative to first one; cooling welded joint until environment temperature providing interference of slit ring 0.1 - 0.15 mm; at using slit ring performing in it through openings with diameter 5 - 7 mm; at first welding opening of slit ring with crankshaft journal; welding all other openings at symmetrically approaching to welded joint. It allows to provide fatigue strength of crankshaft as that of new one.
EFFECT: increased fatigue strength of crankshaft, restoration of worn journals up to nominal size.
