FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, namely processing of aluminum scrap (cuttings, foil).
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of preheating and melting scrap in melt embraced by flue gases; performing preheating and melting of scrap in zone insulated from flue gases, directly in charging vessel whose lower part is immersed into melt and in inert gas atmosphere. Furnace plant includes metallic jacket, charging vessel with inlet and outlet openings for introducing inert gas and for discharging generated gases; lined bath with crown having melting chamber and accumulating chamber mutually separated in lower part by means of partition; heating devices, tap holes for discharging metal. Charging vessel is in the form of shaft passing through furnace crown. Lower edge of said shaft is arranged at level lower than that of partition and in its upper portion it is provided with gate shutters and pusher.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of process, improved effectiveness of furnace plant, increased degree of metal extraction.
