FIELD: instrumentation engineering.

SUBSTANCE: proposed turbidimeter can be used for continuous monitoring quality of water or other liquids and measuring concentration of emulsions and suspensions. Turbidimeter contains open top main vessel 1 with branch pipe 2 in lower part for delivering liquid, vessel-collector 3 for removing liquid flowing over top of main vessel 1, radiators 4 and 6 and photodetectors 5 and 7 located over surface of liquid. Radiators are separated from photodetectors by vertical opaque partitions 8, 10 with horizontal slots, 9, 10 and lower edges bent to center of vessel, without contact bottom of main vessel 1. Partitions serve to prevent re-reflections from bottom and walls of vessel. Output of all radiators and photodetectors are connected to control and signal processing circuit 12. Radiators 4 and 6 are switched on in turn and simultaneously levels of signals at outputs of both photodetectors are measured. Four values are substituted into special calculation formula for calculating concentration of suspended particles. Said formula is such that occasional changes of brightness of radiators, contamination or misting of glasses of optical elements, fluctuations of liquid level and changes of optical characteristics of transition at "air-liquid" border do not affect the result.

EFFECT: increased accuracy and metrological reliability of turbidimeter.
