FIELD: chemical technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the improved method for preparing plasticizer that is used for plastic compounds based on waste from manufacturing alcohols and phthalic anhydride in the presence of metalloorganic or acid catalyst that comprises the following stages: a) vat residue from manufacturing butyl alcohols and vat residue from distilling off of phthalic anhydride are heated and light fraction of alcohols is distilled off; b) esterification is carried out at temperature 100-200^oC in the presence of catalyst taken in the amount 0.1-30% of the reaction mass weight; c) distilling off of highly volatile components is carried out. Method provides preparing cheap plasticizer with high plasticizing properties and solves the problem of utilization of raw waste simultaneously.
