FIELD: inorganic chemistry, chemical technology, biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: method involves reduction of elementary sulfur in liquid medium using microorganisms and gaseous hydrogen, carbon monoxide or organic compounds as donor of electrons. Hydraulic time for retention of liquid medium is at least 1 day and pH value is 5-9. Then method involves distilling off hydrogen sulfide to obtain gas containing 1 vol.% of hydrogen sulfide, not less. Obtained hydrogen sulfide can be directed for interaction with heavy metals-containing flow followed by precipitation of sulfides. Proposed methods for preparing hydrogen sulfide and treatment of heavy metals show reduced cost and exhibit advantage with respect to safety.
