FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for anaerobic bio-electrochemical decomposition of an organic sulfur compound into bisulfide. The method includes stages, at which: a) a bio-electrochemical element is seeded with a mixed microorganism culture obtained from an anaerobically grown culture, while the mixed culture contains methanogens. Next, b) microorganisms are brought into contact with the organic sulfur compound. Then, c) the mixed microorganism culture is allowed for conversion of the organic sulfur compound into bisulfide by direct or indirect transfer of electrons from a cathode of the bio-electrochemical element to the sulfur compound in anaerobic conditions. The invention also relates to a method for conversion of a sulfur compound into bisulfide by direct or indirect transfer of electrons from a cathode of a bio-electrochemical element to the sulfur compound in anaerobic conditions and in the presence of methanogens.
EFFECT: process allows for an easier method for conversion of different sulfur compounds.
