FIELD: production of engine parts having surfaces covered with protective coating.

SUBSTANCE: method involves forming protective coating from aluminum bronze by fusing layer of aluminum bronze onto part manufactured from cast iron, said aluminum bronze layer comprising soft layer distal from cast iron layer and harder carrier layer proximate cast iron layer. Alternative version involves fusing additional layer of aluminum bronze onto previously fused layer. Also described is engine including at least one part manufactured from cast iron and equipped with aluminum bronze coating.

EFFECT: provision for simultaneously obtaining of hard and wear-resistant carrier layer of coating and soft additional layer.
