FIELD: optical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: outer peripheral part of starting cylindrically-shaped material provided with glass core is subjected to deposition of glass particles in radial direction resulting in formation of porous layer, which layer forms porous substance, being precursor of optic fiber. Porous substance is caked to give intermediate product. According to invention, immediately before formation of porous layer, surface of starting material is heated.

EFFECT: enabled intermediate product without imperfection such as shift and detachment of core from shell region.
