FIELD: industrial organic synthesis.
SUBSTANCE: succinic acid is obtained by oxidation of furfurol by hydrogen peroxide in presence of alkali reagent added, process being conducted until total amount of furfurol is consumed first in strongly acidic acid medium at pH < 4 and then in slightly acidic, close to neutral medium at pH > 4 followed by isolation of succinic acid employing conventional techniques.
EFFECT: increased yield close to its theoretical, or by 2-3 times higher than in known processes.
