PLANT FOR BITUMEN DRYING HAVING DYNAMIC TRAY SYSTEM Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: road building, particularly for preparing hot bituminous concrete mixture.

SUBSTANCE: plant comprises heat-insulated body and blades connected one to another by tie members and arranged inside cylindrical case so that outer blade edges slide along inner case surface. Cylindrical case is connected from lower part thereof with drain vessel having outlet connection pipe. Plant also has draw-off vessel for bitumen with inlet connection pipe and drive with reducer to rotate blades. Drain and draw-off vessels include heaters. Additional heaters are secured on outer case surface. Blades are horizontally located and form dynamic tray system. Outer blade edges are bent in direction of blade rotation. Cylindrical case communicates in bottom part thereof with draw-off vessels having level detector connected to controlled valve. Draw-off and drain vessels are arranged in blades rotation direction and are divided by vertical partition. Draw-off and drain vessels have heat-sensing devices. Partition is offset towards outer wall of drain vessel. Upper partition edge is spaced a distance from axis center of tray system. The distance is equal to inner radius of cylindrical case. Heat sensing device is connected to outer surface of cylindrical case. End case surfaces have orifices for hot air made in upper part thereof.

EFFECT: retention of bitumen properties along with drying thereof due to decreasing heat-transfer medium temperature up to 180-210^oC and due to drying time reduction as a result of increased intensity of transferring heat from heater to bitumen by thermal conductivity, free and forced convection and by thermal radiation.
