SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of rewinding paper onto cardboard quills. In proposed rewinding machine for winding thin-sheet material onto quill to form rolls in which provision is made for accurate adjustment of winding, thin sheet material is fed to winding drum and transferred to quill to form roll. Quill is rested, rotated with possibility of control and transported along path on which roll of thin-sheet material wound on quill increases in size at constantly resting on winding drum.

EFFECT: provision of compactness of rolls both at initial and final steps of winding.
