FIELD: chemical industry, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for preparing sorbents and paint and varnish covers with enhanced capacity to absorb electromagnetic waves. Graphite powder is placed into a capacity by uniform layer and mixed with perchloric acid in the concentration 30-62 wt.-% and in the mass ratio graphite to acid = 1:(0.15-0.5). Mixture is subjected for ultrasonic oscillation effect with power 200-1000 mWt/dm3, frequency 20-40 kHz for 5-30 min. Then mixture is placed into furnace, heated by transfer of heat from heat-carrier up to temperature 120-250oC and kept at this temperature for 3-20 min. Prepared swollen graphite has uniform structure and color. Non-swollen particles of graphite are absent. The filled density value is 0.008-0.02 g/cm3, porosity - 001.-99.6%. Method is simple, fireproof and shows economy due to excluding using the current.
EFFECT: improved preparing method, valuable properties of graphite.
