FIELD: electrical engineering, possibly power generation equipment enhancing localized capability of power plants such as cabinets of complete distribution apparatuses, of transformer substations, of complete electric wires at occurring open electric arc in them.

SUBSTANCE: pickup includes fiber light guide having light-proof envelope; two photo-electronic converters; two units for taking logarithm of electric signals; unit for subtracting two electric signals; unit for summing two electric signals. Each end of light guide is optically connected with inlet of respective photo-electronic converter. Outlet of first photo-electronic converter is connected with inlet of first unit for taking logarithm whose outlet is connected in parallel to first inlet of subtraction unit and second inlet of summing unit. Outlet of second photo-electronic converter is connected with inlet of second unit for taking logarithm whose outlet is connected in parallel with second inlet of subtraction unit and first inlet of summing unit.

EFFECT: enlarged functional possibilities of pickup due to simultaneous determination of location and power of electric arc.
