METHOD FOR DETERMINING DISTANCE FROM SHORT CIRCUIT LOCATION IN MULTI-PATH TRACTION NETS OF ALTERNATING AND DIRECT CURRENT AND DEVICE FOR REALIZATION OF SAID METHOD (VARIANTS) Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: electric engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method includes registering short circuit on contact hanger bracket of one of paths of multi-path portion, it is connected to contact hanger bracket of parallel path, in point of connection of hanger brackets at traction substation through limiting resistor for short time. Voltage is fed, currents along contact hanger brackets of paths are measured and, if contact hanger brackets of parallel paths along whole length are made of same set of cables with constant mutual position, then distance x from point of hanger brackets connection near substation to place of short circuit is determined on basis of relation of values of measured currents by means of devices being distributors for alternating and direct current at traction substation and sectioning post, interconnected according to said scheme and additionally equipped with currents sensors, switches, separators and engine drives, current-limiting resistor and reading device.

EFFECT: higher speed and precision of process for determining distance to location of short circuit.
