FIELD: rocketry and space engineering; load-bearing shells for propellant (fuel) tanks.
SUBSTANCE: load-bearing shell has inner smooth envelope made from aluminum alloy and outer envelope made from carbon plastic; they are fastened together through layer of foam plastic. Envelope made from aluminum alloy has smooth thickness adequate for ensuring tightness of envelope. Foam plastic is sprayed on it. Its surface is treated mechanically for obtaining smooth round surface of foam plastic. Carbon plastic sheets are molded and bonded to foam plastic surface at room temperature at pressure created by vacuum bag or bandage. Foam plastic is sprayed from foam polyurethane.
EFFECT: reduced mass and volume of load-bearing shell and consequently of propellant tank.
