FIELD: metallurgy, in particular, processing of steel melting slag or mixtures thereof.
SUBSTANCE: method involves processing slag or mixture thereof with iron content exceeding 5 wt% by feeding steel melting slag mixed with other slag, when necessary, to liquid metal bath, such as steel bath with C content below 1.5 wt%, preferably below 0.5 wt%; after feeding of steel melting slag into bath, carbonizing steel bath to carbon content exceeding 2 wt%, preferably more than 2.5 wt%, by introducing carbon or carbon-bearing substances; alternatively producing steel bath by refining cast iron bath with oxygen until carbon content is below 0.5 wt%; setting bath temperature at the level exceeding 1,5700C; during processing, reducing alkalinity of slag to value below 1.5 and/or establishing aluminum oxide content in slag in the excess of 10 wt%; adding iron oxide-bearing substances to supplied slag for setting content thereof above 8 wt%; melting admixtures, such as scrap, ore fines, sponge iron, in liquid metal bath.
EFFECT: increased efficiency by optimal utilization of process heat and maintaining of slag under process in liquid state for eliminating formation of foamed slag and outbursts of slag from bath.
