FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: addition for slag contains, on weight basis, mixture and 2% to 25% of bonding agent for bonding of lumps or larger particles of the above mixture including 20% to 90% of calcined aggregates containing particles with size of less than 8 mm, of which at least 30% have size of 0.2 mm or more, and containing 35% to 94% MgO, to 50% of slag-forming carbon-containing addition and to 50% of easy-calcined magnesite. Conditioning addition containing MgO, carbon or filler and bonding agent is mixed and pressure moulded, thus obtaining calcined aggregates for example in the form of briquettes.
EFFECT: invention allows obtaining addition to change the properties of slag, including increased viscosity, creamy texture and foaming capability, which are required for application of protection coating to furnace walls to increase service life of lining in steel-making furnaces.
