FIELD: electron-beam technology.
SUBSTANCE: proposed electron gun designed for electron-beam heating, smelting, and evaporation of metals in vacuum or in environment of reactive gases has beam guide 1 incorporating deflecting yoke 16 and accelerating anode 2 mounted thereon and connected to high-voltage insulators 3 through cathodic plate 4 with cathode assembly bearing linear hot cathode 6 secured in two cathode holders, as well as focusing electrode 12 coaxially arranged to enclose linear hot cathode by its dihedral surface. Beam guide is separated from accelerating anode by means of posts 13 affording rigid fixation of accelerating anode on beam guide with clearance provided between them. Accelerating anode has plate 14 fixed to the latter and used for isolating cathode and beam parts of gun. Cathode assembly has two similar current leads secured through circular insulators on focusing electrode and coupled with cathode holders through four flat springs and copper conducting plates disposed in parallel with the latter. Cathode assembly is mounted and secured on cathodic plate symmetrically relative to vertical axis of focusing electrode.
EFFECT: enhanced stability of continuously running gun optoelectronic parameters; extended life of gun operating continuously in vacuum and in reactive gas media.
